Our Angel Evelina is 4 months old!!!

Okay so I'm becoming a little belated on the blog posts and how could I miss this monumental post! Evelina is officially the 16 week mark.......4 months old!! No longer a newborn and well into the infant stage!! Our little cookie is learning new expressions almost daily it seems and getting more confident in her high pitched little voice! It really echoes down hallways and pierces through restaurant chatter already!!!

What better way to celebrate her landmark than a little family vacation right? We headed down to Hilton Head Island, SC last Thursday night (a mere 9.5 hour drive) for a long weekend together. First to touch on the drive.....Mommy had a queasy stomach all day worrying about this drive but Eve really would only live to show about 10 minutes of face time through that drive! Just long enough to get a fresh diaper and eat! Needless to say the drive down was thankfully a breeze (for me and Eve anyway.....we let Daddy do all the driving!).

Once we got into the resort which was about 6am we all snuggled into bed to sleep in a little before our first day at the beach! Eve had already used her beach tent once so far this summer in Ocean City and it again worked out perfect for this vacation as well. She took a few lazy snoozes in the ocean breeze and enjoyed kicking around on her blanket for a few hours each day. Evelina also was able to scrunch the sand in between her toes of the Atlantic Ocean and got some much loved pool time! There wasn't a day that her swimsuit was dry!! Then every day was followed up by a nice sudsy bath (which is quickly becoming her favorite part of the day). She got some time in with her "Uncles" Tommy & Johnny Faust too......with a very cute video I need to post later!

To wrap up the trip.....Evelina got her wings on the way home! We caught a late flight on Sunday out of Hilton Head with a connection in Charlotte to Baltimore. Thats right.....our first flight really was 2 flights in one trip and she did amazing! Mommy on the other hand is another story! I had tears in my eyes just pulling up to the airport knowing that I had to leave her Daddy behind without any help on our first airplane adventure! But Daddy helped us up until security where Evelina made her mark on the conveyor belt with a healthy splat of spit-up! She slept through both flights after a couple of giggles and flirts with nearby passengers and we made it home safe and sound!

What a personality this little angel has! I cant wait to post some more videos and photos......maybe next week will be a little catch up week like that since I'm so late in blogging for last week!

July 15 - 15 weeks old!!

Here we are......one week shy of 4 months old!! Our little Evelina is growing leaps and bounds every day. Her giggles are becoming more frequent and we are falling more and more in love with her perfect gummy smiles! She is also perfecting the use of those tiny hands.....grabbing onto about anything lately and trying to shove that whole fist into her mouth to gnaw on! She has befriended two new toys this week, a little pink butterfly that makes her smile when it sings "Twinkle Twinkle" and a plush baby doll. That is her below grabbing for her baby doll.

This week Evelina got to meet her Uncle Derik for the first time!! It has been so sweet to see the little grins that Derik gives her and how special she already thinks he is!! Within the first 12 hours of him being here he was already rocking her to sleep and then right there after she woke up to get some little smiles out of her!

Another adventure for Eve this week was sitting in her highchair for the first time and she absolutely LOVED it! She was grinning even before Daddy had her buckled in! The way she stares at us when we eat, I can tell that she is already ready for that part too haha! We are holding off for a little while longer though but for now she can enjoy kicking around in the highchair!

July 7 - 14 weeks old

Happy Independence Day!! Evelina enjoyed her first fireworks from afar but nonetheless was dressed to celebrate! We had a nice family dinner together and then on the way home were able to see some fireworks from far enough away to keep her from getting scared of the big booms!

As far as this week goes......Evelina is getting more fun with the use of those two hands she discovered weeks ago! She is holding onto a rattle and her new favorite toy is a plush butterfly that sings "Twinkle Twinkle". Mommy and Daddy are also always trying to get some giggles out of her which are so adorable but only seem to happen when she is in the right mood!

We also started getting into Skyping with Nana and Papa in Iowa this week too. She is sooo fascinated with the colors and faces on the computer screen that it makes for an interesting conversation! It is so hard to have family so far away but it definitely melts my heart to see her grinning at the faces and baby talk her Grandma can give her from so far away!

July 1 - 13 weeks old!!

13 weeks old already! I feel like before we know it she will be four months and then sitting up and then crawling........ahhh and walking??!!! Where did those sweet little newborn days go??

Evelina is definitely developing quite the little personality full of giggles and coos. She loves being talked to and especially talking back through her cute little drool-filled smiles! In fact one of my favorite things to do (in the long list with her) is telling her little stories while I rock her to sleep at night......I love how intently she watches me and how she smiles throughout the stories while her eyes continue to get heavy. She is just so precious!! There is absolutely nothing better than a dozing baby in your arms!!
Well, this was my second week back to work and maybe just a little easier than last week although I still had some pretty weak moments with some tears. I have my little pink photo album tucked into my labcoat that I pull out at the mere mention of "how is the baby doing" from patients! Haha I'm sure I will get annoying soon enough at the goofy grins that I get while people "ooh" and "awww" over her!



Evelina also went to her first baby shower this past weekend for her cousin Aubriel who is due in August! She was such a great little baby all decked out in her white dress with polka dots that matched the table favors (have to say I planned that a little)!!! I am just so amazed at how charming she is when she's passed from lap to lap......even dozing in a few of those laps!


In other fun news.......Mommy and Daddy picked out furniture for the new house this week in addition to picking out all the fun touches to the house such as the hardwood, granite and marble. Eve came along for these adventures but stayed passed out in her stroller......I'm sure by the time we are strolling into the house when it's finished she wont want to stay still much longer! We are still hoping for a mid-August move-in date! So exciting!!! Now that the drywall is up and the doors are hung it is starting to take shape as the house we were picturing!!!



Into the Independence Day Weekend we go.......tomorrow Eve and Mommy are doing a girls day at the Farmer's Market in Baltimore with Aunt Kim!! Then Sunday we are taking a trip to Philly for a one night trip to celebrate Independence Day with some friends and hopefully have Eve meet her first little friend, Ava! More pictures to come!!
