June 25 - 12 weeks old!!

A milestone again.......3 months old!! Where is the time going?? Our little Evelina is flying through the weeks almost as quickly as she is flying through diaper and clothes sizes! Haha! Last week I started sorting through her 0-3 month clothes.......sadly a lot of which were getting a little too small! So, as she turns this cornerstone into 3 months old, she is also quickly assuming the 3-6 month clothing in most of her drawers! It's so hard to pack away all those tiny little onesies!!

Daddy also got to celebrate his first Father's Day with Evelina! A family dinner at an outdoor restaurant with music and drinks was the perfect way to celebrate!!!

Well, this week is one that was definitely difficult. It was my first week back to work :( As much as I love my job as a Physician Assistant and love helping people.........the job I had being Evelina's little playmate as a stay-at-home mommy was the best job I've ever held! Monday was filled with tears for me as I figured she would be sleeping when I left but instead was wide-eyed (making it even harder for me to leave that smiling face). Throughout the day though I got a couple of videos and texts from her Aunt Misty who is watching her 2 days a week (the other 2 days is Grandma Mie-Mie) and that really helped! However, I had to re-do some eye make-up once I got to work because the commute in was pretty tearful!! But I made it through the week with Wednesday off to spend with her and I think every week will be a little easier! I kept a little brag book in my pocket to show off to anyone that asked....which was quite a few of my patients........ahhh what a cutie!

Another exciting event to us this week was the transition into the nursery and sleeping in the crib at night. We tried for the first time on Tuesday night (since I'm off on Wednesdays) and she slept about 11 hours waking up once to eat! We were so impressed!! Although I dont think either one of us slept that well!! Haha......I know Mike didn't fall asleep until about 1:30am and I woke up every half hour to check the video monitor and watch her sleeping! Every other night has gone just as well! It's so funny how she got herself into her own little schedule and is ready for bed at about 8pm every night and usually wide awake by 7:30am the next morning! It definitely has made life a little more normal getting some adult time before we go to sleep every night!

Thursday, June 16 - 11 weeks!!

We are a little belated in posting this and I think I know why........it is the last week of Mommy and Evelina time every day:( I will be heading back to work on Monday the 20th and time is going way too quick up until that day! We are truly blessed though to have family that will be watching Eve during the day though so that should make the transition a little easier!

To sum up our week........we didn't do anything too exciting! We went on a few walks in a nearby park, visited the new house a few times and got some extra cuddling in with Mommy in her last mornings to sleep in with Eve!

Mommy and Daddy were also able to do their first date night since Eve was born this week. We headed out to dinner in Baltimore and had some drinks afterward! It's so funny how much your conversation changes after a baby! Haha I never imagined talking about dirty diapers during a nice dinner but believe me it was one of the many baby related topics that were discussed and smiled about! We also went to a wedding that weekend so Eve had her first (almost sleep over) with Mie-Mie! We got home around midnight after the wedding and she was fast asleep......nothing for us to worry about at all!

Ahhhh my little princess.....I cant get enough of her smiles and her coos! I cant resist posting a video! Sorry! I promise to write more next week as I'm sure there will be more to report! Get the Kleenex ready for Monday, I'm going to need it!

Thursday, June 9 - 10 weeks old!!

10 weeks old.......and this little lady survived her first night away from Mommy (with Daddy only)!!! Haha, I dont think there was anything to worry about on Evelina or Daddy's end but Mommy on the other hand was a different story! I cried twice just getting ready that morning to leave for New York for a friend's wedding! Then rocked her back to sleep still with teary eyes and left her with Daddy all snuggled up in bed! I will say that after we got on the road it was easier and once I was catching up on gossip and medical cases with my two PA buddies Kim and Kelli....it really was a much needed break! The wedding was beautiful and sooo much fun to put on some heels and then kick them off with friends!

So literally as I'm blogging.......my little angel's eyes are getting heavy as she is watching her lamb friends circle above her head while rocking in her swing. Up until the last couple of weeks she would maybe last 10 minutes in any swing but now she is so content watching the mobiles above her head it rocks her right to sleep! I guess this goes to show me again how much she is really changing week to week! I already miss all the little newborn things about her like her being so content nuzzled up on our chest in this perfect little peanut shape........now she enjoys that for a minute or two and then needs to see what else (or what lights) she is surrounded by!
Other advancements that I feel like she has made in the last week is working on her hand-eye-coordination! She is getting so good at batting at her little toys in her play gym while kicking her legs in excitement that she can do it! Miss Eve has also mastered the art of flirting......she is all smiles when her diva needs have been taken care of.....namely just being fed and some good rest! She will smile forever with her Daddy making perfect cooing noises or squeals!Haha this looks like she is already talking back to her Daddy!!!

Evelina hasn't had any other real adventures this week........we tried to go to a Mommies group but we were the only ones there so we had lunch with Aunt Minda and cousins Lily and Adi!! We are going to the Great Grapes Wine Festival this weekend which should be fun as long as it's not over 100 degrees like it has been every other day this week! We did get one walk in this week but every other day has been too hot to venture out for very long!

Next week will be my last week at home with my little girl! Ahhh it's even hard to just type that out! I go back to work on the 20th and some family members will be watching her during the daytime! At least with family I will be able to badger them for a quick video or picture to get me through the times when I am missing her! I guess the upside is that I truly do love my job so going back to work in that sense isn't difficult! I'm actually looking forward to checking up on some of my patients that I havent seen since March! Plus, being able to do an examination will be sooo much easier now without my belly in the way!

Below is a video of her smile sessions that always start by giving her kisses on those big cheeks! She absolutely loves it! Sorry my videoing skills aren't that great! I haven't quite mastered holding my iPhone and taping at the same time!

June 2, 2011 - 9 weeks old

The past week in little Evelina's life has been pretty eventful! Aside from being officially 2 months old......she took her first weekend trip away as a family, had a 2 month old photo shoot plus got the dreaded first round of vaccinations out of the way!Just to touch briefly on this photo shoot that I decided to set up......it was NOT a great decision. At 2 months old there is no easily elicited smiles and somehow the outfits I dress her up in at home do not fare well with strangers putting her into different positions and expecting a perfect pose. She had on this adorable lace romper that we had to take her out of because she was so upset. Needless to say, I was dripping sweat by the time it came to family photos and was not happy with how they turned out! I never dreamed I would be that anxious!! I guess a wailing baby tucked into a cute wicker basket wasn't in the cards for an adorable photo opportunity after all!

A few days after the photo shoot we headed out on our trip to a condo we rented in Ocean City where we stayed until Tuesday. Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Kissy (Misty) with Mie-Mie and Pop-Pop came along too for a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend. Evelina slept the whole car-trip to Ocean City which was about 2 hours and 45 minutes (the longest trip she has been on yet). I think honestly that she loved the ocean air because she slept soooo good while we were there too! We had a little UV-blocking tent set up for her in the sand which worked out perfect for beach days! From the looks of the picture above, I should've been sitting under that tent with her more often! I got BURNT (no surprise)!!Even though we got her dressed up in her little swim suit..... the water was just too cold for even Mommy to walk in! I guess this means that we will have to do a repeat trip sometime soon so that she can truly dip those toes into the ocean for the first time! But all in all it was a great trip for the whole family! We even enjoyed all the touristy things including Thrasher Boardwalk Fries, Fisher's PopCorn, Candy Kitchen (heavenly Hash fudge) and the most delicious Dumsers Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake. All of these things that I knew nothing about until I moved to the East Coast and now they make my mouth water just thinking about them!

Aside from the trip, Evelina got some bonding time with her aunt and uncle who are expecting their first baby (a girl too!!) in August. I just love seeing Evelina flirt with her Uncle Jimmy (below) and Pop-Pop!! Plus she got to spend some extra Daddy time over the trip which I know they both loved. I even snapped a video of Eve getting some serenades from Daddy on the trip that I need to try to upload! So cute!
And to wrap up this little sweetie's 8th week she had her 2 month Pediatrician appointment. She was all smiles and was a perfect little patient for her doctor. Until it came to that first round of shots. The poor little thing.......I haven't heard her cry like that since she was born! No amount of soothing was able to content her right away and the fussiness continued that afternoon. I felt so bad for her! But today she seems back to normal which makes me feel so much better!! To round out her stats as a newborn she is still trucking along in the 97th percentile but is 24 inches long which hopefully means this weight will balance out soon!

This weekend will be my first night away from my little princess and I'm already so sad! She will be staying home with Daddy (who is probably just as nervous as me) while I'm at a wedding in Ithaca, New York. Although I'm excited and in much need of this girl's night away to celebrate a good friend's wedding......I cant believe I will be without a baby in my arms for over 24 hours! I already told Mike that he can text me at her usual 4am wake-up for a feeding! I will have to blog next week about (or maybe make Daddy) to hear how the weekend went!!
