Thursday, May 26 - 2 MONTHS old!!!

Mike and I both cannot believe that 2 whole months have passed! I know I start every post out like this but seriously........time is flying by with this little lady! I really wish we could keep her in this stage for longer than she will fly out of it. I just so love the smiles I get when she wakes up or how she makes her coos and squeals when she's kicking around on her changing table (her favorite spot). I know one thing for sure is that this adorable angel is not doing anything slow so far.......including growing out of clothes and diapers! I'm just hoping to make it through the value sized box of Pampers that we bought before she's on to the next size!

To celebrate Evelina's 2 month birthday we are having some pictures taken tonight! Hopefully they turn out good and we can catch some of her perfect gummy smiles! I would've so loved to have those shots of the baby fitting into the palms of Daddy's hands in the first few months.....however since the Pediatrician joked that she came into the world looking like a 2 month old.........we may have to settle for a naked baby cradled in the crook of Daddy's big arm! Haha!

(Speaking of pics with Daddy.........that is Daddy below IN the play gym with Eve......undoubtedly teaching her how to cheat at learning the hand-eye coordination)

Today, I also got a letter from my 90 year-old Grandmother in Wisconsin. Evelina is her 16th great-grandchild and I cant wait to show her off someday soon! Anyway, in her letters lately she has been including pictures of me as a baby and I'm pretty sure she is starting to get some more of my features aside from the red hair (and currently blue eyes). It's so fun to read her letters because she always does some reminiscing of me when I was Eve's age or stories from me as a little girl......I already think we have some similarities! Let's see if she wants her favorite baby doll named Janie someday (that was my favorite baby doll at my Grandmother's house).

In other adventures coming up in little Evelina's life, we are headed to the ocean this weekend (Ocean City- about three hours from our house) for the Memorial Day weekend. I'm looking forward to walking her up and down the boardwalk, so hopefully it's not too hot or rainy!!! We rented a condo with her Aunt Kissy and Uncle Jimmy (who are expecting their little girl in August) so it should be a fun weekend. It's just the packing that is not all it's cracked up to be! How can such a little thing need a bigger weekend bag than us?! Haha, packing for three people is NOT easy!!!

Well......8 weeks have passed by so quickly and both of us are sad that our little newborn is turning into an infant with her expressions, coos, smiles and personality shining through......we are both so in love with our little pink bundle and cannot wait for the continued adventures of parenting that are to come!!!

Here's a little preview of how happy this little girl is in the morning!

Thursday, May 19 - 7 weeks old!!!

Our little Evelina is 7 weeks old today!!! Next week will be 2 months already and I'm really wondering where 2 months has gone. I feel like we just put our delicate little newborn gingerly into her car seat for her trip home from the hospital! Apparently I'm not doing so good with this growing up thing so far! I really do get teary eyed just seeing her try to stand on her legs or making these new grunts or giggles! I wish she could stay a newborn just a little while longer!

Well, in the last week Eve has had a couple of adventures. The biggest being her trip to the National Harbor in D.C. this past weekend for a Food and Wine Festival. Of course, I am a nervous wreck about her being okay and she is such a great baby throughout the whole day with the only hiccup being her inexperienced parents. Of course, what would a long day trip be without an embarrassing diaper story for the new parents? Since we were outdoors there was no great place to change her so Daddy suggested maybe he could just do it while she is in the carseat. I agree and am on hand with the wipes ready to hand them off with a fresh, clean diaper. Well, when Daddy unwrapped that package it was no longer self contained into the diaper. The mess was all over her car seat, legs.....SUCH a mess! Needless to say we got things as cleaned up as we could without causing a scene and Eve made it through the rest of the day (with her carseat air-drying in the sun, haha)!

In the last few weeks we have finally been able to do tub baths and I have to say they are one of my favorite things to do with this little lady! The way she just lays back and relaxes with these funny expressions on her face are absolutely priceless! Plus it's a good bonding thing for her and Daddy, she is so much more relaxed with him (I love watching them together)! We even took a video the other day so I'll have to upload the highlights soon!

As for other changes in this little cookie's life........she is to the point where nuzzling in your neck is only good when she is sleepy, otherwise she would rather be seeing the world around her. If you talk to her she stares right at you drinking all your facial expressions and baby talk in.....and then she gives her squeals and half smiles back to you when you're finished! I have yet to catch a great smile on camera but there was my best attempt at the beginning!

Next week instead of the 2 month doctors appointment (we are having it the following week).....we are having a photo session so hopefully there will be some good pics to upload and maybe some with Mommy and Daddy ;)

Wednesday, May 11 - almost 6 weeks old!

Almost 6 weeks old!! Wow!! I cant believe my maternity leave is half way over and that our little girl is growing up so quickly! I have to say that honestly in this last week I have seen her grow the most yet! She is smiling, cooing, kicking those arms and legs......and of course the scale is changing too! Haha! I'm just hoping to keep her in these 0-3month clothes a little longer!!

Taking a quick look at motherhood so far and being a parent over these last 6 weeks has definitely made a big change on the home front too. I was laughing to myself this morning when I went to make the bed and found 3 burp clothes, an empty bottle and a pacifier in between the sheets! Haha, things sure have changed!

Evelina had quite an exciting week last week with her grandparents. Although I don't think she minded all the extra spoiling! At the end of their trip it was really tough to see them leave, I'm sure Evie is missing her grandma's voice and the prickliness of grandpa's beard! We talk about them in the wee hours of the morning though so I'm sure that when they get to visit again she will be all caught up on how much they had been missing her!

My first Mother's Day was really nice! I got to spend a nice brunch with family and got to relax for the afternoon, which was much needed. Daddy got home around 11:30pm so I still got a little spoiling from him with a gift and a home-made card (I should take a picture of this card because it's a sweet message scrolled onto a piece of cardboard haha)!

To kick off this week.......Eve got her first diaper change in her new house! We went to check out the house on Monday and wouldn't you know it, she had not one but TWO blow-out diapers onto her clothes! We improvised a changing table out of a chair that we draped a blanket over and made the quick diaper change only to have to do it again about five minutes later! Needless to say we didn't get to venture through the house quite as long as we would've liked but things are shaping up pretty nice! We cant wait until it's finished in late summer!

Thursday, May 5 - Evelina is 5 weeks old!!

Our little Evelina is 5 weeks old this week and she finally gets to meet her other grandparents. They flew in on Wednesday, May 4th and will be here until Monday but time is already flying now that they are here. I picked them up from the airport and in the car we had our chat about washing your hands or using the antibacterial stuff before picking her up........then just chatted about how much she is changing and growing. Well, we pull in the driveway and my dad is the first one to hop out of the car........rushing past the antibacterial soap......he has her scooped up into his arms within 5 minutes of getting to the house! Very cute and priceless! It takes me back to the story of my birth that my mom always told me about with my dad rushing me out of the delivery room so he could show me off before the doctors and nurses were finished checking me over!

In additional news of this week, Daddy left for Punta Cana where he is the best man in a wedding. This is the longest he has had to be away from little Eve and after only one night alone with her last night I'm worried what the next few will bring! She is so used to having her Daddy's chest to fall asleep on that I definitely was not good enough and we stayed up rocking and singing together until midnight on two nights so far! Hopefully this isn't a trend for the remaining nights without Daddy!

For the remainder of the trip with the grandparents we are planning on going to my workplace tomorrow to show off the baby to all the nurses and doctors at Carroll Primary Care! They have all been dying to meet her and I'm excited for my parents to see where I normally spend my days!! We went and saw the house today that is rolling along smoothly in construction. And other than some cuddling and down time with the baby we are planning a brunch out together for Mother's Day on Sunday!

More details and photos to come!
